Clerks 2: Crap On A Stick

Well, the sequel nobody asked for to the movie too many people care about is almost complete. Kevin Smith has released his first look at Clerks II and as if to ram home the point that he's not taking being a film maker seriously any more and has regressed from being a potentially A-list director back to a no-name student doing favours for buddies, the footage looks every bit as horrible as every low budget student indie you've ever seen.

Maybe it's just the fact that now it's in color and shot on what seems to be the cheapest digital camera Ben Affleck bought from his Good Will Hunting residuals but there's something severely underwhelming and cheaper than cheap about the whole thing.

I mean no disservice to the fine guys who we know from the forums, but without any dialogue or anything to go on except the visuals, Clerks II looks like might as well have been thrown together by the makers of Pizza: The Movie, not movies like Dogma and Chasing Amy. I'm sure it's all supposed to be some clever homage or tribute to his low budget original but come on. A bit of proper polish and presentation wouldn't kill ya. Or at least I guess if you deliberately set the bar low the critics can't quite "savage" you as badly this time, huh?

I'm sure you're built in Askewniverse fanbase will worship whatever crap you throw at them as a classic, but Kevin Smith, you should be ashamed of yourself for this.
