Emile Hirsch Going To Russia To Fight Aliens In The Darkest Hour

Chris Gorak’s The Darkest Hour is proving to be a project that’s going to get better and better as time goes on. Not only does it involve an intriguing premise but it will star the up-and-coming Olivia Thirlby. Now, Variety is reporting that Thirlby is getting a young yet seasoned co-star certain to increase intrigue in the film, Emile Hirsch.

The article calls the film a “thriller in the vein of 28 Days Later.” The story involves a group of young Americans trying to survive an alien invasion in Russia. Gorak and Josh Zetumer are responsible for the script and are currently making some edits. Gorak will put his $40 million budget to work when lensing begins in Moscow in June.

Most are still unfamiliar with Thirlby’s work, but with films like Juno and The Wackness under her belt, that’s due to change. As for Hirsch, save for Speed Racer, the guy hasn’t really had a miss. He’s done everything from the nerdy guy trying to break out of his shell in The Girl Next Door to the badass drug dealer Johnny Truelove in Alpha Dog. So far Gorak is two for two and considering two doesn’t qualify as a group, more will likely come.
