The first three minutes of I Am Legend has just been released online by Warner Brothers here, and if you have any intention of seeing the movie this weekend I strongly recommend not seeing it.
It’s not that the clip is exactly spoilerific, but I Am Legend’s opening scene is pretty awesome and deserves to be seen in a massive movie theater surrounded by gargantuan speakers. I don’t care how cool your computer setup is, it’s just not up to handling how cool the first three minutes of the movie are.
You’ve probably heard something about the scene. The movie opens with Will Smith high-speed deer hunting in the middle of deserted, overgrown New York city by popping a rifle out the window of his Mustang, hitting the gas, and giving chase. Granted, it’s kind of annoying that the deer are needlessly CGI, but it’s still a pretty awesome sequence, unlike anything you’ve seen in any other movie. So don’t watch the clip. Get up, go out, and buy a movie ticket.
