First Trailer For Unauthorized: The Harvey Weinstein Project

Harvey Weinstein is one of the most powerful men in Hollywood. From Miramax to the Weinstein Company, he is a major player in the Oscar race every single year and has long fought the ridiculous MPAA rating system (last year he personally went to bat for Blue Valentine when it was given an unjust NC-17 rating and the board decided to vote in his favor). He has a carefully designed public image and has the authority to keep it that way. That is, unless someone makes an unauthorized documentary about him.

The first trailer for Unauthorized: The Harvey Weinstein Project has arrived online and you can check it out below.

While the concept behind the film sounds interesting enough, this is a pretty bad trailer. The interviews that open the video are disjointed and don't really mean anything, while the second half of the preview makes it seem like the only reason to see the movie is because Harvey Weinstein doesn't want you too. Hopefully the actual documentary will be a lot more interesting.

Despite being told that he is committing career suicide and will be blackballed from the film industry for the rest of his life, director Barry Avrich has made this documentary to go behind the curtain and learn about the back story of the mogul. Unauthorized: The Harvey Weinstein Project will be released On Demand on October 7th.
