Flicka 2 Galloping Toward Theaters

I didn't remember 2006's Flicka as being all that well-liked, or well-remembered, or even financially successful (it made $21 million worldwide). But apparently a girl and her horse can't be beat. Production Weekly is reporting that Flicka 2 will begin shooting in Vancouver in April.

There's no indication of who will be in it, or whether the stars of the original-- Tim McGraw, Alison Lohman and Maria Bello-- will return. Michael Damian will be replacing Michael Mayer as director, so if I were to guess, I wouldn't count on the original cast returning. Are there any die-hard Flicka fans out there thrilled to see another? Or is this one of those sequels that, despite what anyone says, is just destined to go straight-to-DVD?
