Halloween Sequel Seeking Directors

Those of you who weren't wild about Rob Zombie's take on the Halloween franchise last year will be disappointed again. Malek Akkad, who produced the 2007 movie, told Dread Central that the planned sequel would again be based in Zombie's re-imagined world, with Tyler Mane as Michael Myers and possibly other original cast members returning as well.

The plan makes sense from a financial standpoint-- last year's Halloween had a $26 million opening weekend, which is better than the usual horror movie du jour can manage. Halloween is a durable franchise that has been reimagined over and over again, and the people who made the most recent one a modest hit will probably do the same for this one. We still don't know who will direct, so who knows how different it will be from Zombie's vision after all. As it's been doing for the last 30 years, the Halloween franchise keeps evolving.
