Hutt 3D

One of these days, I’m going to retire from reporting big, showy, geek news stories and go back to doing smaller reports on indie movies and romantic comedies. That’s my true passion. Reporting on Star Wars is a real drag, but I have to do it for all of you, my fans. You owe me.

Today I’ve got more George Lucas tinkering to cover. It seems he showed up at ShoWest, the place with all the movie posters. The Hollywood Reporter was there to follow him around, and caught him talking crazy about remastering Star Wars in 3D. All of it. No word on whether the gadget crazed madman will be doing this before or after he does those small indie films he keeps talking about loving. But he, like me, has to do this for all of you.

His plan is to redo all six Star Wars films using the latest 3D technology. Now he hasn’t committed to an exact schedule yet, but he does say that he wants to have A New Hope 3D out in time for its 30th Anniversary in 2007. After that, he’ll subsequently release another remastered 3D film each year.

Just imagine Leia’s hair buns leaping out of the screen into your lap. Horrifying isn’t it?
