Jack And Rose Both Won Golden Globes Last Night, Even Though She let Go

One of the greatest modern romances, based on box office take, is Titanic. It struck such a chord with audiences that it’s still a major part of the cultural landscape. It also took its two stars, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, and made them both household names. The two have go on to fame, fortune, and Oscars (well, for one of them anyway). But Jack and Rose will always be together. Last night they were linked because they both took Golden Globes homes for their respective categories. Cue Celine Dion!

Kate Winslet started the night by being utterly flabbergasted that she’dwon the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in Steve Jobs. She was speechless on stage because she obviously wasn’t expecting the win. Leonardo DiCaprio, on the other hand, while obviously thrilled, was not quite as surprised.

The two actors have been nominated for Golden Globes in the same year a few times before but this is the first time that Jack and Rose have both received their statues in the same year. Each has been nominated an astounding 10 times since the mid 1990’s, and each has now taken the award home three times. As you might expect, social media went slightly goofy upon realizing that "Jack and Rose" had both won awards on the same night. But apparently nobody was excited as Jane Fonda, who couldn’t help but jump up and down seeing the two together again.

What do you think they’re saying to each other? We’re going with, "So how far did you have to swim?"

So now we have to ask the question, will Jack and Rose each win Oscars next? As surprised as Kate Winslet may have been to take home the Golden Globe, this award now makes her a frontrunner for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award. And Leonardo DiCaprio was already considered a pretty likely nominee in his Best Actor category, now he has to also be looked at as a likely winner, although Matt Damon also won last night and he’ll also be on the short list when the Oscar nominees are announced.

So admit it, how many people got a little emotional when the Titanic twosome won their awards last night? You’ll get no judgment from us.
