Subscribe To James Gunn Keeps Guardians Of The Galaxy Fans Guessing With Cryptic Drawing Updates
For the past couple of weeks, James Gunn has been teasing fans of Guardians of the Galaxy with "What We Shot Wednesday" posts, consisting of a storyboard from the day's shooting activities for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. This week's has to be one of the most cryptic though, as it's not easy to make out what Gunn's sketched out below. Take a look at the post below, and be sure to read the caption for important clues.

Another Wednesday, another storyboard for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Looking forward to more absolutely insane...

Compared to the last couple weeks of "What We Shot Wednesday" posts that Gunn has deployed on his Facebook page, the current shot from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is the most perplexing yet. What we see before us is two things: the pencil ghosts of an erased image, and the fresh image that took its place. That image occupies the extreme left part of the frame, and it looks like a figure slumped over with their head hanging low. But perhaps the most telling detail about this image is the fact that it looks like our mystery figure is wearing headphones, meaning that this could be "Star Lord" Peter Quill in the frame we're observing.

So what's Star Lord doing in this image, if it is in fact Chris Pratt's intergalactic badass that's the subject of this drawing? Well, an educated guess has us thinking that this frame is a rather somber moment, with Quill taking solace in one of the mix-tapes that his mother left for him before her passing. We're also going to assume that "Awesome Mix Vol. 2" is the tape in his Walkman in this particular moment, as it was introduced at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy and has been waiting to be unfurled in the hotly anticipated sequel. Due to the strong connection between those tapes and Peter Quill's mother, our final assumption is going to be that this moment comes after a particularly rough interaction with his scoundrel father.

As James Gunn himself has pointed out in a previous "What We Shot Wednesday" post, we're allowed to guess as much as we want as to what's going on in the frames he'll be releasing every Wednesday. However, the only time we'll know for sure what these images truly show is when we're sitting down to watch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Here's hoping that there's a special feature on the Blu-ray showing which scenes correspond to which images, if only to satisfy those who are obsessed with checking their work.

Meanwhile, you can mark May 5, 2017 on your calendar as the day that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 finally arrives in theaters.
