Javier Bardem Looks Ridiculous In New Stills From Ridley Scott's The Counselor
It seems that Javier Bardem is at his very best when he is sporting a crazy hairstyle. In 2010 he won an Academy Award for his performance in the Coen brothers' No Country For Old Men, and just last year he got and endless stream of acclaim for his turn in Sam Mendes' Skyfall. If that trend holds true this year, then we should be in for a real treat with Ridley Scott's The Counselor.
Allocine (via The Film Stage) has posted a full gallery of new stills from the upcoming crime drama, and while you can go over there to see shots that center more on characters played by Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Michael Fassbender and Brad Pitt, but I want to stay focused on Bardem's ridiculous new costume. Check out all of the Bardem-related stills below and head over to Allocine for the rest.
The only thing that concerns me about these stills is that Bardem is wearing the exact same clothes in every single shot. It's possible that the stills photographer just focused on one particular set-up, but hopefully this doesn't mean that Bardem's part is only a small one in the full film. Perhaps they are just planning to keep his other outfits a secret for now.
Scripted by Cormac McCarthy (making the movie a No Country For Old Men reunion for Bardem), the new film tells the story of a lawyer (Fassbender) living on the border of Mexico who thinks that he can dip his toe into the drug trafficking game, make some quick money, and then walk away clean and free. Unfortunately, the drug world also happens to be a world of violence, death, torture and crazy people, and it doesn't take long for The Counselor to discover that he is in too deep. In addition to the outstanding A-listers at the top of the cast, the movie also sports an awesome supporting cast that includes Dean Norris, John Leguizamo, Rosie Perez, Natalie Dormer, and Goran Visnjic.
The film isn't too far away now, as 20th Century Fox has dated the movie for release on October 25th. You can watch the film's first domestic trailer below.
