There are a whole lot of silly Oscar night traditions to choose from, from the opening song-and-dance to the Best Song performances to the "shocked" speeches from people everyone knew would be winning. But I'd like to add a pretty recent tradition to the list: Jimmy Kimmel's "Movie the Movie." The ABC late night host will have the prime post-Oscar slot again this year, and will be back with the parody that set the Internet on fire after last year's Oscars. Except, in the grand tradition of movies, it's not just a new parody: it's a sequel. Welcome to Movie The Movie: 2V.
In this brief teaser we get glimpses of a whole lot of famous people ready to embarrass themselves for the sake of the joke, from the prominently featured Jessica Chastain to Jude Law to Ben Stiller being attacked by… sexy mummies? I'm not totally sure what's happening there, but I know that I'll be watching, at the very least to recover from the exhausting marathon that is liveblogging the Oscars for you people.
Movie The Movie: 2V will debut in the post-Oscars Kimmel, which is being "headlined" by Jamie Foxx and Channing Tatum, whatever that means. You can also see the teaser poster, which gives Chastain ever more prominent placement. I guess that's a consolation prize now that she's no longer a Best Actress frontrunner?
If you've somehow forgotten, you can watch last year's Movie The Movie below, in which Matt Damon shows up dressed as a bunch of grapes, Gary Oldman as a centaur, Gabourey Sidibe as Black Hitler, Tom Hanks as a Robolawyer, and virtually everything else you can (or can't) imagine. Can this year's installment possibly live up? You'll have to tune in after the Oscars to find out.
