Kick-Ass 2 Gets Hit Girl-Filled International Trailer

Following Kick-Ass 2’s expletive-laden action-heavy red band trailer that came out a couple of weeks ago, there wasn’t much more to do to reintroduce some of the most uncouth and amusing vigilantes ever to grace cinema screens and comic pages. And as you can see from the international trailer above, no attempts were made to try and top to previous trailer’s mayhem.

There’s something slightly unsettling about the fact that while a lot of the trailer’s bits were seen before, the bulk of the new footage follows the un-costumed Hit Girl Mindy Macready (Chloë Grace Moretz) as she attempts to be a normal high school girl, associating an improvised cheerleading tryout with the choreography that goes along with fighting ruthless villains. Half of the trailer’s 1:23 runtime is over before we even get to see Kick-Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey) and the rest of the bunch. It’s understood that Hit Girl is a loner and that it takes a little work to get her to join the super group Justice Forever, but someone who didn’t know better might think that this film centered solely on Hit Girl. The Mother Fucker (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) isn’t even shown!

Kick-Ass 2, which also stars Clark Duke, John Leguizamo, Donald Faison, Morris Chestnut andOlga Kurkulin, opens nationwide on August 16, 2013.
