Martin Lawrence is tossing aside his feminine fat suit in favor of saying wazzup to introspection. He’s borrowing a page from the book of Zach Braff and making a movie about returning home.
Variety says it’s called The Better Man, and it casts Big Mamma as a single father who returns home for his parents’ anniversary after making it big as a shock jock. He shows up with a celebrity fiancée, and begins questioning the road his life has taken.
Universal Pictures has hired Malcolm Lee to direct it, and he says Martin Lawrence will have to be like an onion. There's emotion and pathos here that give Martin a chance to display more layers than usual,” says Lee.
Martin has just finished filming the possibly funny movie Wild Hogs with John Travolta, Tim Allen, and the great William H. Macy. Like Better Man, Wild Hogs is a movie about getting older and figure out where you’ve been and where you’re going. Maybe Martin has finally grown up.
