Subscribe To Marvel Has Hit The Pause Button On Runaways Updates
Last month, things were going quite well for Marvel's Runaways project. First it was announced that the project would begin filming next March and then the first member of the cast came on board in the form of Keke Palmer. Just a month later, it appears that everything has come to a halt.

Deadline reports that Marvel has decided to slow down production on the film, and not because of a lack of confidence in the project. Rather, the studio is simply concerned that they are currently balancing too much on their plate and wants to make sure that the film isn't rushed. Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist director Peter Sollett signed up to helm the film back in April and the script was written by Lost writer Brian K. Vaughn and Drew Pearce.

This is probably the smartest move that Marvel can make. Though they've already established themselves as a powerhouse with hits like Iron Man, the studio is still fairly nascent and has quite a bit to deal with right now including Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor, The Avengers and Iron Man 3. All of those films are meant to be tentpoles in the summers to come, meaning that they need all of the attention that the studio can give them. Throwing an extra project up there like Runaways, which stands to be a much lower priority, would result in a mess that isn't worth anybody's time.
