Only One Ticket Needed For Dungeon Siege

Apparently I missed a memo somewhere. Lately news about director Uwe Boll has been far too positive. So what if he has a few movies coming out in the next couple of months. He’s yet to prove himself as anything other than a horrid director and a pompus prick.

Thankfully he seems to be a reasonable pompous prick, and has shelved plans to split his upcoming film Dungeon Siege in two. Despite a long running time (over two hours), Boll and Freestyle Releasing will be releasing the film in one single chapter, partially because most of the “good stuff” (if such a thing exists in a Boll film) would be in the second film if the movie was split in two, and partially out of concerns that fans (whoever those may be) would feel Boll and the studio were attempting to bilk them out of twice the money. Hell, once the money is enough of a crime. I can’t imagine anyone would be stupid enough to see two. Still, that’s the rationale Boll gave Bloody Disgusting.

So, the plan is to release In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Story, which has an appropriately long title, as a long movie, and then to release an even longer DVD cut of the movie. At least on DVD you have the option to pause the movie or, even better, eject it and put in something by a director with actual skill and talent – you know, someone who makes movies for reasons other than German tax-loopholes.

In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Story comes to theaters in January. It sounds like the first showing might still be playing by February, but I wouldn’t expect the theatrical run to last too long.
