Red Band Trailer For Step Brothers

Red band trailers are all the rage right now, and you have to wonder at a certain point whether they're really necessary. Yes, some R-rated movies really benefit from letting it all hang out, so to speak (Forgetting Sarah Marshall took this very literally when advertising star Jason Segel's assets), but others just seem to string together all the scenes that involve f-bombs to satisfy the juveniles eager to hear cursing.

For a while the new red-band trailer for Step Brothers (available below) seems to be the immature latter. But just like its first trailer, and all the advertising I've seen for the movie so far, it wins you over eventually, and culminates in a scene that really and truly requires cursing to be appreciated.

While waiting for our screening of Indiana Jones to start on Thursday, my friends and I saw a series of short Step Brothers promos in between the commercials. My friend leaned over and told me, “I want to see that based on those alone,” and I totally agreed. I'm not sure how the zillionth outing of the Reilly-and-Farrell Doofus Wonder Twins still seems funny, but something about Step Brothers tickles me, even when I feel like I should know better. Even that silly family portrait in the poster cracks me up. Call me tasteless, but something tells me this will be fun.

If you're over 18, check out the new trailer to judge for yourself. And if you're not of age, the trailer contains very few new scenes, but a whole lot more four-letter words, most of which you already hear on TV.

WATCH IT IN HIGH-RES
