Rourke Rydes His Way Into The Informers

Bret Easton Ellis has quietly emerged as one of the best authors of his generation. Both critics and the American public lauded his novel American Psycho, but one of his lesser known efforts, The Informers, has been absorbing the attentions of Hollywood producers for the last few months. Naturally, I was ecstatic when it finally got financing from Senator Entertainment, but the mass clamoring for roles has shocked even me. Billy Bob Thornton and Kim Basinger have each already signed on the dotted line, but today, two more actors threw their names into the squared circle.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Winona Ryder and Mickey Rourke have agreed to appear in The Informers. The general plot follows seven less than morally upstanding citizens who go through a tumultuous week. Like Magnolia, their lives intertwine and affect each other in fascinating and unpredictable ways. Ryder will embody a newscaster whose heart is broken by a movie executive and Rourke will lend his talents to playing a movie lot security guard who decides to kidnap a child. Production is set to begin sometime next month; so, look for this future gem sometime late next year.
