Scrubs Star Opens Hearts

I’ve probably been the internet’s biggest whiner when it comes to Zach Braff. He’s a talented young director, but since Garden State he’s been wasting time as the voice of Chicken Little or flirting with playing Fletch when he should be getting back behind a camera.

Braff it seems has finally seen reason. The Hollywood Reporter says his sophomore directorial outing will be a remake of a 2002 Danish film that almost no one stateside has seen, Open Hearts. Does that really count as a remake?

Zach will adapt a new script, direct the film, and as he did for Garden State co-star in it as well. Paramount Pictures will fund his endeavor, having earned the privilege of being next to work with the “Scrubs” star after an intense bidding war for his services with other companies like the newly formed Weinstein and Fox Searchlight.

What the heck is Open Hearts about? It’s another romantic drama, this time the story of two couples whose lives intermingle after a car crash. How close does their intertwining get? Don’t expect swinging but don’t be surprised by a little bit of cheating.

The film should shoot this summer while Braff is on a break from “Scrubs”.
