Slasher House Trailer: $8000 Worth Of Scares

Here at Cinema Blend, we pay a lot of attention to films like Man of Steel and The Hangover Part III, which might both turn out to be really great films, but will probably be just okay flicks that cost a lot of money to make a lot of money. There are a lot of expectations involved with these films, and promotional campaigns that only end when the films have long since been released on DVD and Blu-ray. But for a no frills horror flick like Slasher House, the expectations don’t even exist enough to be low.

As such, we can just stand back and gleefully show you guys the above U.S. trailer in all of its ridiculously gory glory, courtesy of Dread Central, and then we can move on with our lives. The U.K. production, written and directed by MJ Dixon, will be releasing there on April 29, though Americans will probably have to wait until 2014 to catch it.

Slasher House cost less than $8,000 to produce, and though it’s budgetary limitations are evident, it’s a slick looking trailer with a ton of practical effects that could easily fit this movie into the post-Saw years of horror films. I’d have put the budget in the mid six-figures at least, but I bet these actors got paid in Dave and Busters tickets.

So…the plot. Red (Eleanor James) wakes up naked inside a cell with no memory of how she got there. She soon finds out she’s in an abandoned house with four of the most notorious serial killers ever, played by Adam Williams, Wellington Grosvenor, Andrew M. Greenwood and Alex Grimshaw. One by one, the killers get released, and Red is forced to fend for herself within the walls of…Slasher House.

Considering there’s a freaky looking clown involved, much less whatever weird thing is hinted at near the end of the trailer, I’ll definitely be checking it out whenever it hits some VOD source that you can only access down a dark alleyway. Check out the film’s poster below and try to guess just how many George Washingtons were spent on its creation.
