When Star Wars Will Drop The Final Force Awakens Trailer

Considering how much of a film we typically see from trailers, clips, TV spots and the like before a release, it’s surprising how little we’ve seen of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Since Lucasfilm unveiled a short Instagram video with snippets of new footage and the interactive Jakku video, we’ve been waiting with bated breath for the next reveal. According to reports, that will come this October 19.

ScreenCrush reports based on a combination of online reports and their own intel that the next and final Force Awakens trailer will drop on that date. If you want to see it on the big screen, the site also states that it will make its way in front of screenings of the new James Bond movie Spectre, which hits theaters on November 6. An official announcement of the trailer release is said to come soon, which the site states could potentially drop on Friday or Sunday with a quick teaser for the trailer.

In addition, Cinemark accidentally published the official graphic to accompany a Star Wars movie ticket pre-sale on its site. It was quickly taken down, but users on TheForce.net are saying that AMC employees have been prepped for a ticket pre-sale event on October 19. Keep your ears open and your eyes peeled over these next few days, as we’re certain to hear more about this development.

Director J.J. Abrams, his actors, and Lucasfilm have been hellbent on stopping any and all spoilers from leaking out, but such things have proven difficult in the past. Still, based on this outlook and the previous trailers and teasers released, we’re likely to see some riveting footage that still keeps many details close to the vest.

From presentations at San Diego Comic-Con and Star Wars Celebration in California, we’ve learned a few things about the new characters from a galaxy far, far away. The Force Awakens will not only return some of the original players, but also introduce three new leads — Finn (John Boyega), a Stormtrooper on the run; Rey (Daisy Ridley), a scavenger from the desert planet Jakku; and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), one of the best pilots in the galaxy. Their destinies will become forever intertwined in this world plagued by a new threat, The First Order. Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) is the new Sith-esque villain with the cross-guard lightsaber, while Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) leads the troops under the direction of the sadistic General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson).

We’ve also been hearing more about some new characters that we previously glazed over in that massive Vanity Fair photoshoot reveal, plus we still haven’t seen good looks at Lupita Nyong’o and Andy Serkis’ motion-captured characters. We’re crossing our fingers that at least some of these points will be touched upon in the new trailer.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released wide in the U.S. starting December 18.
