Thomas Jane And John Cusack Are Ridiculous In Drive Hard Trailer

What the hell has happened to John Cusack? Remember the glory days of Say Anything, Grosse Pointe Blank, High Fidelity and Being John Malkovich? Now he is giving us nonsense like The Raven, The Paperboy and this, Drive Hard.

Above is the first trailer for Drive Hard, a crime thriller fronted by Cusack and Thomas Jane, that somehow stayed completely off our radar until now. It's a buddy comedy that follows the wild ride of a mysterious thief (Cusack) who kidnaps a race car driver turned driver's ed instructor (Jane), so he can be a reluctant getaway driver. Along the way, this odd couple will cross paths and piss off cops and gangsters. Damien Garcey, Christopher Morris, and Zoe Walker co-star.

The Playlist has unearthed a couple of stills from the film, which you can see below. The first one has Cusack double-fisting a pair of guns, and in a mostly black outfit that makes me wish this were Grosse Pointe Blank 2: Back In Blank or something.

The second show Jane in the driver's seat, which is on the left. This tips that Drive Hard (oh man, that title) doesn't take place in America, where driver's seats are on the car's right side. So, where might this be set? Probably Australia, as Drive Hard's shooting locations on IMDB include Queensland, and more specifically Surfers Paradise.

Drive Hard is the latest release from the prolific English helmer, Brian Trenchard-Smith. You might not recognize his name, but if you're a fan of movies so bad they're beloved, you might recall Leprechaun 3 or Leprechaun 4: In Space. But his best known feature is actually the Aussie adventure BMX Bandits, which holds the honor of being the first film Nicole Kidman ever shot.

Check out its trailer below, because you know you want to:

Drive Hard is expected to hit theaters in the US this year, thanks to Image Entertainment. But an official release date has not yet been announced.
