Vin Diesel Takes A Mysterious Marvel Meeting

UPDATE! Vin Diesel apparently had his big meeting at Marvel Studios today and has updated his Facebook page accordingly. In addition to the image you see above, the actor wrote a message that said,

Marvel meeting today...Only the people in the room can tell you what was discussed...P.s. Thanks to Our page, for pushing to make it happen... you know I get tunnel vision with my work... and after that meeting today... wow!

The original story follows.

The last time Vin Diesel dropped a bit of speculative news, he said James Wan’s 7 would begin filming this summer. Wan is continuing his horror streak with both The Conjuring and Insidious: Chapter 2 coming out this summer, while Diesel had a double play of his own, with the ridiculously successful Fast & Furious 6 and the sci-fi action sequel Riddick coming out in September. It’ll be tough for both guys to work together while doing the promotional junkets for all those films, but we definitely know that film is coming at some point.

So now we can begin scratching our heads over the lastest piece of news that Diesel let slip, via his Facebook page. Beneath a picture of the actor engaged in some water fun, he drops the following bombshell: “P.s. Marvel has requested a meeting... no idea what for... haha, you probably know better than me...”

What the Hellfire Club? I mean, it’s plainly obvious that the hyper-expanding Marvel cinematic universe will allow a good percentage of Hollywood A-listers to be in one of many superhero movies planned to release in the next five or six years, and it doesn’t take much to picture Diesel donning some kind of special attire to either destroy the world or save it. (For some reason, I picture him as a villain, or at least an anti-hero like Riddick.) So who could he be? With Marvel’s “Phase Two” films aleady well into production – save for Joss Whedon’s Avengers 2 - if he isn’t playing Thanos or some other character we aren’t yet aware of from that film, then he’ll probably begin his involvement during “Phase Three,” should his involvement go further than just one meeting.

Unless familiar comic personas are completely altered, I don’t see Diesel fitting into roles as Dr. Strange, The Black Panther, or Ant-Man. (Though maybe I’m just feeding into my own villain theory.) Perhaps the strongest bit of info we have to go on is a rumor from last year that he being looked at to play Vision for the Avengers sequel, but then he was later rumored to be taking that part for Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man. Does the doubled up rumor qualify as proof? Not for a second, but repetition often breeds results, so we’ll just have to wait and see (or keep it in our “vision,” rather).

If I can just sit here and speculate for a second, I think it would be amazing if Diesel signed up to play Kingpin for a Daredevil remake, now that the property is back at Marvel. And then Dwayne Johnson could play Daredevil, and the two could work together to rescue… wait, I think that’s already a movie.

Let us know in the comments who you think Diesel should play, or if you even think he deserves to get involved.
