When We Can Expect New Batman v Superman Footage

Coming out of San Diego Comic-Con back in July, all anyone wanted to talk about were the trailers for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad. And for good reason, they were both awesome. In the interim, however, we haven’t seen much, and with the release date for BvS creeping ever closer, we’re starting to get antsy. Here’s the good news, we shouldn’t have to wait too much longer.

Producer Charles Roven is waist deep in the DC Extended Universe, and is in a position to know some things about some stuff. In a recent chat with Collider, a talk that touched on numerous topics, he talked about when we might see new footage, saying:

Honestly, you’re going be seeing something very soon… I don’t know how you define soon but certainly before the end of the year, how about that?

While that’s not specific in any way, the idea of seeing something before the end of the year is an exciting prospect for fans. And to be honest, the conclusion of 2015 is rapidly approaching, so that’s not as long a wait as it initially sounds.

Roven’s statement obviously leads to another question, that of when we will see what will presumably be a new trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice? Warner Bros. has a handful of movies still to come before the year draws to a close, and it seems likely we’ll see a new look at the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight throwing down, with Wonder Woman along for the ride, attached to one of those, but there’s no super obvious choice.

First up is The 33, the story of Chilean miners trapped underground for months, which opens up this weekend. That seems an unlikely match. The Rocky spinoff Creed hits theaters on Thanksgiving Day, and with a prime holiday release, and with a movie that many think could contend for awards and tickle the public’s nostalgia bone, such a pairing might work.

In early December, they have Ron Howard’s whale hunting epic In the Heart of the Sea. That’s going to be big and in IMAX, and stars Thor (Chris Hemworth) and Spider-Man (Tom Holland), and there’d be a certain irony in marketing a DC movie during another film that stars two key members of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There’s also the Point Break remake happening, which opens Christmas Day, but that’s likely going to be entirely swallowed by the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens the week before.

The point I’m trying to make is, who the hell knows when we’ll see a new trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but we shouldn’t have to wait too terribly long. The movie itself opens everywhere on March 25, 2016.
