Witless Protection Not Opening In Canada

Canada gets a lot of flack from America, and Cinema Blend has been no stranger to that battle. Banner ads on the site advertise shirts that declare the country to be “America’s Hat” and our podcast even had a short-lived battle with another site where the territorial line between America and Canada came into play.

For all of their flack, it looks like Canada may be smarter than America in one regard (or at least have a lower tolerance for stupidity): Larry the Cable Guy. While America didn’t exactly embrace the comedian’s latest movie, Witless Protection, which barely broke the two million dollar mark in its opening weekend, Canada isn’t even opening its boarders to the movie. According to Canadian website Movies Online, Maple Pictures has announced that Witless Protection won’t get a release in Canada.

There aren’t any reason given for the lack of a release, but do we really need one? It’s a Larry the Cable Guy comedy movie. After last year’s Health Inspector, this movie never should have been made, yet some idiot wasted celluloid on filming the picture. This is actually one of those cases where I have to respect Canada. Unified health care and no Larry the Cable Guy movie – moving there is sounding better and better every day.
