New Writer For Hardy Men

I was a die-hard fan of the 'Hardy Boys' television show when I was a young. I’m talking the Parker Stevenson and Shaun Cassidy version from the 1970s, not the old Disney serials on the 'Mickey Mouse Club.' I’m not sure that is something that I should admit to at this point in my life, but I also read many of the books and even bought Shaun Cassidy’s album. That’s right, it was an LP with grooves and everything. I guess this doesn’t have much to do with the upcoming The Hardy Men movie, but I just want to you know that I’m invested.

As you will remember from Josh Tyler’s news item back in February, The Hardy Men will follow Tom Cruise and Ben Stiller as the grown up estranged siblings. Due to everyone involved being super rich and super busy, shooting is not expected to start until early next year. This delay is fortuitous, since The Hollywood Reporter is saying that the movie will get a brand new script courtesy of Simon Kinberg.

Kinberg is the writer of the upcoming Jumper and the recent Mr.&Mrs. Smith. He will completely redo the current script that may follow the general plot of Joe and Frank reuniting to solve a mystery. It’s unclear of what the tone will be, although the report says that Kinberg will be taking it in a new direction. Hopefully the direction he is going for will be “good” rather than “sucky.”
