Red-Band War On Everyone Trailer Is Raunchy, Mean, Hysterical And Completely NSFW

Earlier this year, movie-goers lost out on an amazing time at the cinema, allowing writer/director Shane Black's The Nice Guys to put up disappointing box office numbers. Audiences can still make up for this by going to see the period crime noir, and I recommend they do, but allow this to be a warning that you really shouldn't miss the next great R-rated detective duo who will soon be hitting the silver screen. Ladies and gentlemen, allowing me to present the red band trailer for John Michael McDonagh's War On Everyone.
I had the pleasure of seeing War On Everyone at its North American premiere at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas earlier this year -- and I can tell you that if you're buying what the movie is selling, you're going to have an amazing time. The crime comedy thriller only has a release date in the England right now, but this UK trailer from Icon Entertainment most definitely does a fantastic job telling you exactly what the film is.
The third film written and directed by John Michael McDonagh, following The Guard and Calvary, War On Everyone is set in New Mexico, where two local detectives - Terry Monroe (Alexander Skarsgard) and Bob Bolano (Michael Pena) -- operate as two of the most corrupt motherfuckers to ever walk the Earth. They live a life of alcohol and drug-fueled happiness, but when they start trying to exploit a robbery at the local horse track, they wind up on the radar of someone they really shouldn't have messed with.
The title War On Everyone is most certainly an apt one, as the movie truly takes no prisoners in its pitch black humor -- but it's so incredibly over the top and dark that you can't help but laugh and not take it too seriously. Not only are Michael Pena and Alexander Skarsgard hilarious and completely outrageous, but they are surrounded by amazing supporting characters played by Tessa Thompson, Caleb Landry Jones, Theo James, Malcolm Barrett and Paul Reiser. Of course, if you personally find yourself regularly objecting to all kinds of criminal and blasphemous material, this movie probably isn't for you (and I find myself wondering why exactly you clicked on this story).
While War On Everyone is set up with a fall release in the UK, we don't exactly know when it will be arriving in the United States -- but we hope that the answer is "soon." The film's North American distribution rights were purchased by Saban Films earlier this year at the Cannes International Film Festival, and hopefully they'll create a release plan that gets the movie out to everyone who wants to see it. In the meantime, be excited, and stay tuned for more updates!
