Early next year, the Resident Evil film series will be concluding with its sixth film, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. There are still quite a few months before the film hits theaters, but series star Milla Jovovich has got fans of the series covered because she's debuted the first bit of footage for the movie. It's a teaser for the full-length trailer, which she reveals will be hitting the internet in just four days. Check out the footage below.
The snippet of footage comes from the Twitter account of Milla Jovovich, who has starred in every single Resident Evil film. The footage doesn't show off much except for a cool shot of an almost giddy Alice riding around on a motorcycle (the coolest way to travel), and promising to "kill every last one of them." Does she mean all the zombies, the Umbrella Corporation, or literally everyone? You'll have to wait until the trailer comes out to learn more.
We've also got a brand new image from The Final Chapter (via Entertainment Weekly), that showcases a battle-weary Alice who looks like she just went through the ringer. If nothing else, this movie looks like it'll serve as an explosive and appropriately bloody ending to the 14-year-old series.
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, who has written every single entry in the zombie action horror series and directed three of them. Jovovich is, of course, returning and will be joined by series regulars like Ali Larter (Final Destination), Iain Glen (Game of Thrones) and Shawn Roberts (Resident Evil: Retribution). The plot will find Alice making humanity's final stand as she brings the fight to the Umbrella Corporation and their army of mutant monsters just waiting to chow down on some tasty humans. Expect lots of guns and lots of action.
The Resident Evil films are actually the most successful series to be based on a video game - despite that fact that each entry gets constant negative reviews. I suppose there's just something about seeing a woman kills legions of monsters that really resonates with people. Even though the films make a good amount of money, they'll supposedly be ending the series with The Final Chapter. Though the film is literally teased as the "final chapter," it certainly wouldn't be the first movie to pull the wool out from under our eyes (we're looking at you, Shrek).
After getting delayed due to Milla Jovovich getting pregnant, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is scheduled to be hit theaters on January 27, 2017.
