Over the past couple of days, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has made more enemies than friends on the set of Fast 8, what with his Instagram crusade to throw liberal amounts of shade on his "candy assed" male co-stars. With the exact asses of candy remaining an unconfirmed mystery, with very heavily rumored candidates being names, the drama was heading to very toxic levels. Thankfully, a secret meeting was rumored to have happened yesterday, and said meeting looks to have cooled the situation to the point where The Rock is starting to sound like his sappy, hard working self again.
Taking to his official Instagram once more, The Rock deployed another novel-sized post describing an aspect of his Fast 8 experience. However, it's the following segment that caught our attention, as it perfectly summed up the point of Johnson's remarks:
And like with any team - that's a family - there's gonna be conflict. Family is gonna have differences of opinion and fundamental core beliefs. To me, conflict can be a good thing, when its followed by great resolution. I was raised on healthy conflict and welcome it. And like any family, we get better from it. At the end of the day me and #F8 co-stars all agree on the most important thing: Delivering an incredible movie to the world.
Dwayne Johnson's tone has definitely changed, since his remarks on Monday put the whole set on high alert, prompting some of his co-workers to try and help clear up the mystery of the candy ass. With the shooting schedule for Fast 8 coming to a close, it sounds like that secret meeting between Johnson and the most likely target of his beef, Vin Diesel, has had enough of an impact to make these last days of shooting bearable. Of course, this all brings up one pretty big question: when are we going to get official confirmation of whomever The Rock was targeting, and will they tell their side of the story?
For all we know, we may never hear anything new about the Fast 8 debacle after this friendly update from Dwayne Johnson. The post is clearly meant to patch things up, and allow filming to finish without any delay or further event. So it would seem that the fighting, at least for now, has ended. That said, we'll be keeping an eager eye on the Fast 8 press tour for the film's scheduled April 14th, 2017 release date.
