Annabelle 2 Trailer Is Here To Send Serious Chills Down Your Spine

This has been a huge year for the Conjuring franchise. Not only was James Wan's The Conjuring 2 a smash hit in theaters this summer, but a brand new spin-off was announced in The Nun, which is in active development. Throwing a cherry on top of the horror sundae, now we have the first teaser trailer for 2017's Annabelle 2, and it will definitely send a chill down your spine. Watch it below!

Pretty creepy, right? This brand new trailer, released by Warner Bros., definitely recognizes that what an audience imagines is typically much scarier than anything that can be thrown on the screen, and thanks to some terrific acting from Miranda Otto, this teaser really pops. Given the reaction that she has to whatever is going on with that little girl, it looks like we should be expecting something seriously scary.

Directed by Swedish filmmaker David F. Sandberg (who broke out this summer with the critically-acclaimed Lights Out), Annabelle 2 is a prequel seemingly set before both the first movie and The Conjuring, and centers on a dollmaker (Anthony LaPaglia) and his wife (Miranda Otto). Years after the death of their daughter, the bereaved parents agree to let a nun (Stephanie Sigman) and some young girls from a local closed orphanage come stay with them -- but what they don't know is that the house is home to a possessed doll that begins making their lives a living hell.

Given that Annabelle 2 won't be coming out until May 2017, this trailer is definitely debuting early by Hollywood marketing standards -- but when you consider the box office competition the movie will be facing, it's understandable that the film would want to get out in front. Right now, the horror film is set to open the same day as Baywatch, The Nut Job 2, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul - not to mention the fact that it will be arriving just two weeks after the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. As such, it's not really surprising that Warner Bros. wants to get Annabelle 2 on audiences' radar early, so that they will potentially be anticipating the film for months to come.

How did you feel about this first teaser trailer for Annabelle 2? Based on the footage, do you think it's a movie for which you'll be buying a ticket? Hit the comments section below with your thoughts and look for the film in theaters on May 19, 2017.
