How Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3 Could Include Shredder, According To Brian Tee

Shredder TMNT

Warning: spoilers for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows are ahead!

Despite the fact that he's generally been considered the quintessential bad guy for everyone's favorite reptilian heroes, Shredder was really shortchanged in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Given very little screen time, the iconic villain eventually found himself frozen at the hands of Krang and stored away in a vault for safe keeping. That being said, it now seems that actor Brian Tee has a great idea regarding how to bring Shredder back into the action. Tee explained:

I actually do think that Shredder is way cooler than Krang anyway, and his betrayal was definitely one of those things that we have to be like, 'Really? Really dude?' You know, as he betrayed me and he froze me in time, um, people get unfrozen, I feel, so just saying that there will definitely will be a revenge of the Shredder, hopefully in a movie really really soon, so we'll have to wait and see.

During a recent interview with, Brian Teen explained that he doesn't think we've seen the last of Shredder at all. He believes that the villain will most certainly find himself unfrozen at some point -- following his betrayal at the hands of Krang -- and when he's finally thawed out, he is going to be incredibly pissed off. Shredder isn't the type of guy you want to enrage, so it sounds like a war with Krang may be on the horizon. Perhaps he will even team up with the Turtles in order to make that war a reality.

Bringing Shredder back in this manner would definitely mark a step in the right direction for the TMNT franchise. The series generally seems to work best when it keeps the action at a relatively small scale, as opposed to giant Avengers-esque set pieces. Rather than rely on enormous, apocalyptic sequences, using Shredder and his menacing Foot Clan would allow the series to play to its strengths while still honoring the overall Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles mythos. We're definitely on board with that.

Of course, we have to note that Brian Tee's comments are not confirmation of any sort. At this point, there's no guarantee that a third Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie will follow this narrative; it's simply a really, really good idea. That being said, we live in an era where good ideas introduced by filmmakers, actors, and even fans can actually become a reality. Making a live-action Deadpool movie, and casting Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange were simply "good ideas" at first, and then studios decided to run with them. Anything can happen if you make a strong enough case for it.

Whether or not Shredder will return to wreak havoc on New York City remains a mystery, but we think it's an amazing idea. He's the best Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles villain in the entire mythos, so he deserves a moment to truly shine. Let us know what you think in the comments section below. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is currently available on Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital HD.
