Every year, your family may or may not send out the traditional Christmas card, a look into one brief moment from your life as a family to let everyone know that you're keeping it together. Maybe you're wearing matching sweaters or sharing that pic from your vacation to the Grand Canyon, or, if you're like the cast of Baywatch, you showed off your impossibly toned beach bods. It seems like Baywatch officially wins Christmas this year with this holiday themed post from the upcoming action comedy.
Shared via Priyanka Chopra's Twitter, the Quantico actress posted a little animatic of the cast of Baywatch wishing you a happy holiday this year. The explicitly summer-themed movie hopes that you "sack up" this X-Mas, which can only mean finding a sack to distribute your presents from (duh). Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is, of course, center stage as the most bad ass Santa in the business, surrounded by his fellow cast mates like Zac Efron and Alexandra Daddario, wishing you holiday wishes and mistletoe kisses.
The post should give plenty of people an idea of the tone this film is going for. It's basically the hyper-masculinity of Fast and Furious mixed with the comedic self-awareness of 21 Jump Street, which is a pretty interesting combination. The first trailer didn't entirely sell me on the movie, but the decision to make the film a comedy was a wise one, and I'm curious to see more from Baywatch.
Not one to be outdone, the Rock took to his own Twitter page to personally wish his fans a merry Christmas. He has an absurd amount of wrapping paper to clean up, but we're sure that he took Baywatch's advice and sacked up, using said sack to put all the garbage away. That's just sacking up 101, people.
Hopefully, the heat off these posts will warm us all up this winter. Baywatch is an adaptation of the classic television show best known for the slow running of its cast of lifeguards. Though the show was more of a drama, the film is going the route of an action comedy led by the always charismatic Dwayne Johnson. He's joined by Zack Efron, Alexandria Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach, and Ilfenesh Hadera as lifeguards who make it their mission to protect the bay and all of its beach-goers. Priyanka Chopra rounds out the cast as the primary antagonist.
Baywatch is directed by Seth Gordon with a screenplay written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Watch the full trailer on the next page. The film will warm up theaters when it releases on May 26, 2017.
