The Razzies Take Special Aim At Batman v Superman, See The Full Nominees

Batman v Superman

Before Hollywood celebrates its best of the best at the Oscar nominations (which take place on Tuesday, January 24), the Razzies traditionally steal a little piece of the Academy's thunder by dumping on the perceived worst of the worst, and this year is no different. Six movies will vie for Worst Picture at the 37th Annual Golden Raspberry Awards, and leading the charge are two sequels that took quite the drubbing from the critical community: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Ben Stiller's Zoolander 2.

According to the official site, Razzies.com, both films released in 2016 are up for Worst Picture as well as Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel. That's a broad category, and would assume to fit in a number of films released last year. In fact, the full list of Worst Picture nominees, as well as the remainder of this year's Razzie contenders, can be found below:

If you are watching both films back to back, I think it's easy to determine that Zoolander 2 is a lazier, sloppier sequel than Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Where the latter might have tried to accomplish too much world building, Zoolander 2 really tried to revive a premise that had grown incredibly stale, and did so by attempting all of the same jokes, only 15 years after they had passed their prime.

So, who will win the "prize" this year? The "winners" of this year's Razzies will be announced on Saturday, February 25 -- which the Razzies officially dub "the now traditional day before the 89th Annual Giving Out of the Little Gold Naked Men." Good luck?
