Subscribe To Charlize Theron’s Spy Thriller Atomic Blonde Gets A Stunning New Poster Updates
Amid the talk of who will eventually replace Daniel Craig as James Bond when he leaves the series (if he hasn't done so already), some folks threw around the idea of a woman being cast as the titular spy. If any woman out there could step into those shoes, it's Charlize Theron. Though she may never hold the title of 007, Theron will be getting a kickass spy thriller all her own in the upcoming Atomic Blonde (formerly titled The Coldest City). The movie drops this summer, and we have the first look at it thanks to this new teaser poster. Check it out!
This sleek-looking poster was shared via Atomic Blonde's official Instagram. The poster offers the first look of the Oscar-winning Theron as the title blonde. Sporting the always trendy all-black ensemble with matching sunglasses, Theron holds a gun and has some really blonde hair. It's a simple and sweet approach with a very cool vibe, a mix of deadly and seductive. Theron nails the look to say the least.
Atomic Blonde is an action-thriller that stars Theron as Agent Lorraine Broughton, the crown jewel of Her Majesty's Secret Intelligence Service. As MI6's most lethal assassin, Broughton uses her spycraft, sensuality and savagery to accomplish her impossible missions at whatever the cost. Sent alone on a mission to Berlin to deliver a priceless dossier, Broughton soon finds herself trapped in a deadly game of spies. Atomic Blonde is based on the graphic novel, The Coldest City, created by Antony Johnston & illustrator Sam Hart.
In addition to Theron, the cast is rounded out by James McAvoy (who plays an embedded police chief partnered with Theron), John Goodman, Toby Jones, Sofia Boutella, Til Schweiger and Eddie Marsan. Atomic Blonde is directed by David Leitch (John Wick, Deadpool 2) with a screenplay written by Kurt Johnstad (300).
There is some serious talent crammed into this movie. Not only do you have the always reliable McAvoy and Goodman, but David Leitch is in the director's chair. So far, the director has a pretty great track record, which should hint at the level of action we can look forward to in this movie. Theron can basically do anything having been in big blockbuster action movies like Mad: Max: Fury Road and dramatic awards contenders like her turn in Monster. That makes this role of a cutthroat assassin, who'd just as soon kill you as she would bat her eyelashes, right up her alley. Plus, I'm really digging the title.
Atomic Blonde is set to hit theaters on July 28. For more news about the film, make sure to check back in with CinemaBlend and we'll be sure to update you with new information as soon as it becomes available.
