Keanu Reeves And Winona Ryder Are Making A Rom Com Together Because Destiny

Keanu Reeves Winona Ryder A Scanner Darkly

Certain pairs of actors just work well together on the silver screen. It does not matter if it's Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, or Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan; chemistry is chemistry when it comes to cinematic romance. One fan-favorite on-screen romance that we haven't seen much of in recent years is the one shared between Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder, but that absence has only made us grow fonder of it. Apparently picking up on our desire to see these two actors back together again, it's been announced that a Keanu Reeves/Winona Ryder-led rom-com about two people at one miserable wedding weekend is coming, and we couldn't be more excited.

Destination Wedding, as the project will be called, centers on a quintessential romantic comedy premise. The film follows two chronically unhappy individuals (Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder) who meet one another at the wedding of mutual friends. Eventually developing clear affection for one another, the duo struggles to cope with those feelings because of their bad histories with love (in addition to their shared disgust with one another at times). In addition to the two headlining stars, Destination Wedding is written and directed by Victor Levin, who helmed 2014's 5 to 7 and penned Win A Date With Tad Hamilton, as well as several episodes of Mad Men and Mad About You. The guy knows how to write dysfunctional romance, and his IMDb filmography supports that.

As you have probably already figured out by now, this isn't the first time that Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder have teamed-up for a big screen project. The duo previously worked together towards the beginning of their respective careers on Bram Stoker's Dracula in 1992, and they reunited 14 years later for Richard Linklater's A Scanner Darkly in 2006. If Destination Wedding proves successful with audiences, let's hope that it doesn't take another decade to get them back on the big screen together.

In addition to the fact that Destination Wedding is poised to reunite Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder on the silver screen for the first time in several years, the project should also potentially appeal to their respective fans because it seems to offer a refreshing change of genre compared to their later work. Between Keanu Reeves' work on the John Wick series (not to mention this year's The Bad Batch), and Ryder's role on Stranger Things, both performers have delved into pretty dark territory in recent years. They both have proven their worth as comedy actors over the years (in fact, I'm still waiting for the third Bill and Ted movie), so it will be nice to see them switch things up by going back to a lighter type of film.

CinemaBlend will bring you more information related to Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder's upcoming work on Destination Wedding as new details about the project become available to us.
