What Henry Cavill's Justice League Mustache Was Really Like, According To Ben Affleck
There's no question that Justice League will come packed to the brim with visual effects. As the first ever meeting of the core DC team of heroes on the silver screen, we fully expect some unique set pieces that highlight all of their respective abilities. However, there's another visual effect that has captured our imagination -- and it has nothing to do with superpowers. That's right; I'm referring to the widely talked about removal of Henry Cavill's mustache. Now it seems that Ben Affleck has confirmed what we were all hoping to hear: Henry Cavill totally looked like a porn star on the set of Justice League. The Batman actor said:
We have written at length about this bizarre situation ever since it started to unfold earlier this year. The extensive (and costly) Justice League reshoots created a number of scheduling conflicts for the core group of actors because many of them had moved on to new projects. Specifically, Henry Cavill was hard at work on production for Mission: Impossible 6 -- a role that required his character to have a mustache. Paramount reportedly wouldn't let the Superman actor shave the mustache or wear a fake as he bounced back and forth between sets, and as a result, he stepped back into the Kryptonian suit while going full Magnum P.I.
Alas, as much as want to see Big Blue zipping around the sky with a glorious tuft of fuzz on his upper lip, from what Ben Affleck told Empire, it doesn't sound like we will have that opportunity in a big screen environment. Henry Cavill's mustache has reportedly been digitally removed from the final cut of Justice League, meaning we will be presented with a more typical version of his traditional visage. That said, we will always know that there is a pornstache hiding beneath the digital makeup in certain scenes, and that's good enough for us.
Of course, Henry Cavill has still managed to show some love for the DC world while sporting that stache. Take a look at one (of many) photo he recently posted to social media to celebrate the home release of Wonder Woman to get a better look at the facial hair.
We will get to see Henry Cavill as our digitally-shaven Man of Steel when Justice League debuts in theaters later this year on November 17, 2017.
