The Bumblebee Movie Just Got A New Title And A Cool 80s Logo

After five movies in the main series, the Transformers franchise is looking to expand its reach. That effort will begin with the Bumblebee spin-off, which puts the yellow Autobot in the spotlight for his own adventure. Taking place in the 80s, Bumblebee will encounter new human allies to help him in his never-ending battle against the Decepticons. The movie just recently wrapped filming and thanks to some social media posts, we now know what the current title and logo are for Bumblebee. Check out the 80s inspired logo design below.

Thanks to some savvy users of social media at the wrap party for the solo Bumblebee movie, fans now have their first look at the title and logo of the film. The film will be called Bumblebee: The Movie, which has a nice retro feel to it. The spin-off is a period film set in the 1980s and the logo reflects that with a retro design. It's also accompanied by a tease of Bumblebee's redesign. The Autobot will appear in his classic Volkswagen Bettle form, so the logo could be cluing us into how he'll look with his throwback appearance.

We've still got over a year to go before Bumblebee: The Movie arrives in theaters. The movie was delayed six months after its initial release date, which should hopefully give production plenty of time to get the visual effects in order. It's likely that the above logo will go through some alterations in the meantime, which is just par the course in movie marketing (the logo for Thor: Ragnarok changed quite a bit over the years). Hopefully, this logo will provide a solid foundation to build on before the marketing really begins to kick into high gear.

Not a terribly large amount of information is known about Bumblebee: The Movie. It will be directed by Kubo and the Two Strings' Travis Knight with a screenplay penned by Christina Hodson. Hailee Steinfeld leads the cast as the Autobot's latest human companion, with John Cena and Jorge Lendeborg Jr. also appearing in the movie. And it just wouldn't be a Transformers movie if Optimus Prime didn't show up for a bit. Set in 1987, a high school tomboy finds a battered and broken Bumblebee in a junkyard, striking up an unlikely friendship with the alien giant robot.

Bumblebee: The Movie is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 21, 2018. That's still a long time from now, so stay up on all your Bumblebee knowledge with our What We Know So Far guide.
