What Barbra Streisand Thinks Of Lady Gaga’s A Star Is Born

Although Lady Gaga has appeared in a few acting projects previously, she's been getting a lot of press for her role in A Star is Born, a remake of the 1976 film starring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson, which is in turn a remake of a 1954 film starring Judy Garland and James Mason, which is also a remake of a 1937 movie produced by David O. Selznick. Of course, Barbra Streisand is still around to see the movie get remade yet again, and when the actress was recently asked at Paleyfest how she feels about the new movie, she had only positive things to say about the remake, noting,

Oh, I can't say too much. I haven't seen too much, but it's good. It's very, very good.

Barbra Streisand was at the Dolby Theater on Friday, where Paleyfest was honoring her for her popular work, when the actress and singer was asked about the new version of A Star is Born. Although Streisand was a little vague about how much of the movie she has seen, she did reveal (via ET) that she is pretty impressed with the parts she's been shown. It would be weird if she had gotten bent out of shape about the remake, especially considering her version was also a remake; still no one was forcing her to use descriptors like "very, very good," either, so that's presumably her real opinion. To me, then, these words about A Star is Born are encouraging.

As for A Star is Born itself, the movie has been rolling out some early looks since late last year, first giving us some images of co-stars Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper and later a first teasy look at the movie. The movie came together fairly fast after the two leads were cast, although we should note that this remake is one that had been in development for years, and previously Beyonce and Leonardo DiCaprio had been attached as the leads in the movie.

As for Lady Gaga, she proved she had some major acting chops when she had a lot of fun in Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story: Hotel. She even won a Golden Globe for the gig, and apparently it whet her appetite for acting enough that she went on to sign on for A Star is Born. Previous big screen roles for the actress were small parts in Machete Kills and Muppets Most Wanted, so really A Star is Born is the kind of role that could make or break Lady Gaga's acting path, at least on the big screen, moving forward.

We won't have too much longer to wait. The film has already finished production and it seems the likes of Barbra Streisand have at least seen parts of the movie, although the flick did get pushed back from its May release date to October of 2018 recently. While we wait, take a look at the other movies that will be coming out this year.
