How Nicolas Cage Might Be Involved In Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse

Spider-Man noir

The Spider-Man world is going to get a lot bigger later this year when Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse premieres. The Miles Morales-centric story will send the teenager into a brand-new universe full of quite a few different spider-themed heroes, and with the film set to premiere this December, it looks like we may have another major actor on the roster. Specifically, it seems that Nicolas Cage might be lending his voice to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse as Spider-Man Noir.

The cast of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse continues to grow, as Discussing Film reports that Nicolas Cage might be involved in the film as none other than Spider-Man Noir in the upcoming dimension-hopping adventure. As the character's name suggests, he hails from a universe inspired by classic film noir, offering up a darker version of Peter Parker who often does battle with 1930s gangsters. He's a far more cynical take on Spidey, and some versions of Spider-Man Noir have even been known to use guns and kill people.

This is only the most recent superhero that Nicolas Cage has involved himself in. The actor famously almost had a chance to play Superman in Tim Burton's Superman Lives, which never made it to the big screen, and he also portrayed Johnny Blaze in Ghost Rider and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. On the voice acting side of things, Nicolas Cage also recently provided his instantly-recognizable vocal chops to Superman in Teen Titans Go! To The Movies. The guy clearly knows his way around the genre, so it will be very interesting to see what he can do with a darker iteration of Spider-Man.

Nicolas Cage is the latest in a long line of well-known actors to join the all-star cast of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. In addition to the Raising Arizona star, the film has also enlisted major names like New Girl star Jake Johnson, Bumblebee star Hailee Steinfeld, Moonlight star Mahershala Ali, and Dope star Shameik Moore (who will headline the affair as Mile Morales).

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse tells an interdimensional focusing on one of Marvel's most beloved heroes (in his many forms). Homing in on Miles Morales as its lead character, the upcoming Sony film follows him as he meets Peter Parker and learns about the many different realities that make up the universe. On this journey, he and Peter Parker see all sorts of wildly different characters including Spider-Gwen and the aforementioned Spider-Man Noir.

Make sure to stay tuned for more updates related to the increasingly star-studded cast of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse as more news about the upcoming animated film breaks. Lastly, make sure to watch out for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse when it premieres in theaters on December 14.
