Kong: Skull Island Director Gives His Blessing To Godzilla Vs. Kong Director

The latest trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters left a big impression on fans but that movie is really only the tip of the iceberg. Following the Godzilla sequel, the iconic creature will go head to head against King Kong in Godzilla vs. Kong. There's a lot to be excited for about that, but one thing that might worry fans is that each film in the MonsterVerse is from a different director. Well, Jordan Vogt-Roberts, director of Kong: Skull Island, isn't worried at all and recently shared his thoughts that Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard will do a great job.

Last year, Jordan Vogt-Roberts directed the latest iteration of King Kong in Kong: Skull Island. The movie takes place in the same universe as 2014's Godzilla and helps set up the eventual clash between the two iconic movie monsters. Vogt-Roberts is working on getting people psyched for a Metal Gear Solid movie and doesn't have anything lined up in the MonsterVerse. But the director recently expressed confidence in the man who will be helming King Kong's next movie appearance, Adam Wingard.

In an Instagram post, Vogt-Roberts shared an image of himself with Adam Wingard and concept artist Jakub Rozalski. It's unknown how the three men spent their day but one would wager that the topic of Godzilla vs. Kong came up at least once. Whatever it is that Wingard has planned for the blockbuster movie, it's a-okay with Vogt-Roberts, who expressed on social media that the movie was in good hands.

Not much is known about Godzilla vs. Kong other than that the two title monsters will try to beat the crap out of each other. It's up to fan imagination at the moment to figure out how Kong makes it off of Skull Island, or why the two of them are fighting in the first place. The movies human characters are also unknown but it's possible that characters from the previous movies will show up to watch the fight. It feels like a safe bet that King of the Monsters will offer a tease for the movie, perhaps in a post-credits scene.

At least fans won't have to wait long to see Godzilla vs. Kong. The movie is set to premiere on May 22, 2020, only one year after Godzilla: King of the Monsters. To learn more about the monster blockbuster here is everything that we know so far.
