There are plenty of movie premises that sound inherently silly on paper and the latest one to catch the internet's full attention is Hard Powder, a grimdark action movie in which Liam Neeson plays a snow plow driver out for revenge against a drug cartel. It is very much a real movie, and it did not take long at all for people to start comparing it to the famous Mr. Plow episode of The Simpsons. Now, Twitter is swimming with posts making fun of Hard Power by basically calling it a dark, live-action sequel to Mr. Plow. Check it out below.
For those who may not know, "Mr. Plow" is an episode of The Simpsons that aired in 1992 and is considered to be one of its best episodes ever. In "Mr. Plow," Homer starts his own snowplow business called (you guessed it) Mr. Plow and finds great success. However, his friend Barney starts his own rival plow company that drives Homer out of business. One of the episodes most memorable jokes is the Mr. Plow jingle that Homer sings for a commercial: "Call Mr. Plow, that's my name. That name again is Mr. Plow." With Hard Powder becoming a reality, Twitter users are imaging tough guy Liam Neeson singing the Mr. Plow jingle to his enemies.
Quoting The Simpsons is an age-old tradition on the internet and people are having a ton of fun with this one. Another Twitter user -- this time Alex Fitzpatrick, Senior Editor at Time -- imagined Liam Neeson gunning down his enemies while making sure they don't forget who sent them to hell.
Liam Neeson has been at the center action movies with silly concepts before, but this one may just take the cake. Hard Powder (which is a great title) follows a snow plow driver named Nels Coxman -- a citizen of the year winning snow plow driver no less -- whose son is unjustly killed by a drug cartel. When local law enforcement proves ineffective, the snow plow man takes matters into his own hands, sparking a bloody war with the cartel. If he doesn't run over at least two bad guys with his plow and stain the white snow red, then this movie is a failure.
Hard Powder is set to hit theaters on February 8, 2019. It's directed by Hans Petter Moland and also stars Laura Dern. It's sure to be an event to remember so save the date! To learn about what is hitting theaters this year, check out our handy 2018 release guide.
