Jeremy Renner's Latest Avengers 4 Photo Shows A Beat-Up Hawkeye
We haven't seen him in the MCU since Captain America: Civil War, but Jeremy Renner is making up for lost time on the set of Avengers 4. The archer sat out Avengers: Infinity War, presumably having to watch the Battle of Wakanda from the restrictive comfort of house arrest, but he's hopping off the couch and into the fire for Avengers 4. Reshoots on the final film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 3 are currently underway, and Jeremy Renner has been reminding Hawkeye fans that he's back. The actor's latest photo from the Avengers 4 set shows that the archer will be right back in the thick of things and taking his lumps. Check it out:
Time may have passed and he may have a new haircut, but the Hawkeye we know and love will clearly be back at it in Avengers 4, risking life and limb and wearing the damage to prove it. Joining the fight against Thanos will probably make his house arrest look like a relaxing vacation in hindsight. We know very little about Avengers 4 thus far, so we don't know who leaves Hawkeye with a shiner, but I suspect it's a formidable foe because Hawkeye takes on all comers, irrespective of weight class.
Jeremy Renner looks like he's having a good time and is glad to be back in his Instagram post. Here he looks a little beat-up thanks to makeup, but we know Jeremy Renner lives up to his character's toughness in real life. The actor broke both of his arms filming Tag, and he not only completed that film, but also showed up to the Avengers 4 set during principal photography and still did all of his archery scenes with the broken arms. So just like Steve Rogers, Jeremy Renner can do this all day.
Seeing Hawkeye beat up like this, it's worth a reminder that the stakes in Avengers 4 will likely be the highest we've ever seen, and victory demands sacrifice. Most, if not all of the deaths in Infinity War are in TBD status, as presumably many of those will be reversed, but I think we are all expecting some permanent deaths in Avengers 4. While Cap and Tony are probably the prime candidates for heroic and honorable deaths, Hawkeye is always near the top of the list. The character's relative lack of power compared to his teammates and the fact that he has a family would make his death one of the most likely and also one of the most tragic. That said, I expect a personal tragedy is what will see him rejoin the fight in the first place.
Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye returns when Avengers 4 hits theaters on May 3, 2019.
