Jeremy Renner Shared A Hawkeye Image Setting Up For Avengers 4
We have not seen Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton since the events of Captain America: Civil War, but fans know that he's on the way. The Marvel Cinematic Universe archer was nowhere to be found in Avengers: Infinity War, but the stage has been set for him to return alongside the surviving members of the Avengers roster to round out the final Phase 3 film. With less than a year until Avengers 4 debuts, Renner has just posted a new photo teasing the arrival of Hawkeye for one more awesome ride. Check it out, below!
Kind of reminds you how much you missed Hawkeye during the events of Avengers: Infinity War, doesn't it? That photo shows Jeremy Renner dressed as Hawkeye and ready for action, and he seriously looks like a badass, if I do say so myself. Sure, it will have been three years since Hawkeye's last appearance when he finally shows up to kick some ass in Avengers 4, but it will be a welcome return for the marksman.
The reason for Clint Barton's absence in Avengers: Infinity War is explained away in one line during the events of Avengers: Infinity War. As noted by Black Widow before the Battle of Wakanda, both Clint and Ant-Man hero Scott Lang were given plea deals after the events of Civil War so they could return to their families instead of taking prolonged stints on The Raft prison. That's where Clint has been since taking on Team Iron Man in that awesome airport battle, and he's been resting up to help the original hero lineup from The Avengers round out the current slate of Marvel films in one more on-screen adventure next year.
Of course, the most exciting area of this post is in the caption, where Jeremy Renner provides a bit more detail into the mentality of The Avengers' resident archer. More specifically, the caption notes that he misses his friends and the hero loves his family. There are a few elements to this worth honing in on; the fact that he misses his friends seems like a direct callout to the death of half of the Avengers roster at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, while the emphasis on his family could potentially indicate that Clint Barton's wife and children did not make it when Thanos snapped his fingers.
Audiences will finally get a chance to see Jeremy Renner enter the fray in the battle against Thanos and the Infinity Stones when Avengers 4 debuts in theaters next year on May 3, 2019. Until then, make sure to catch Ant-Man and The Wasp in theaters right now, and watch out for Captain Marvel ahead of Avengers 4 next year on March 8, 2019!
