Yes, Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker’s Knights Of Ren Have Names
Ever since they were introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we have wondered exactly who the Knights of Ren are. They are seen briefly in Rey's vision, and we're told that Kylo Ren is their leader, but two movies in, the illusive characters have played no direct part in the story. We don't even know what they're called, beyond simply referring to them collectively as the Knights of Ren.
Even the toy versions of the characters, some of which were spotted last week ahead of their release this Friday, don't give us much detail, as it turns out that even the action figure of one of the characters is simply referred to on the packaging as a Knight of Ren. A fan recently asked Lucasfilm Story Team member Pablo Hidalgo on Twitter about the lack of a specific name, and he revealed that all the Knights do have names, it's simply that those names weren't confirmed back when Hasbro needed them for the products. According to Hidalgo...
The fact that toy manufacturers need details about characters and events long before the general public in order to produce merchandise in time for a film's release means that they potentially get access to some pretty sweet spoilers, but it turns out that sometimes quite the opposite is true. If certain decisions about characters haven't actually been decided yet, then the toy maker ends up having to make due with less information then one might expect.
So the Knights of Ren do have names, likely names similar to Kylo Ren himself, but apparently those names weren't decided back when the characters were introduced back in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, instead, the names are a more recent creation.
We know that the Knights of Ren will finally play a role in the final movie of the Skywalker Saga, but at this point that's all we know. Exactly how they will be used in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is anybody's guess. The first trailer for the film showed what might have been Kylo Ren actually attacking the Knights of Ren, but the shot was too brief to be entirely sure that's what we're seeing.
So, while it looks like you might be able to collect all of the Knights of Ren come Triple Force Friday, don't expect to get a lot of details about who they are, as even something as potentially non-spoilery as the characters names will be missing.
While the Triple Force Friday preview last week gave us a look at some pretty cool merch, it was all very good about not revealing any details. Quite the opposite it only created more questions.
