Coordinating the ReelBlend podcast can be a challenge. The co-hosts -- particularly Kevin McCarthy and Jake Hamilton -- travel often so they can interview the stars of the movies you guys love hearing about. And finding a window that fits all three guys' schedules can be hectic. Sometimes, we miss a guy. So we're blaming Jake's "scheduling" for him missing this week's episode... and not the fact that he was too terrified to discuss Hereditary that he asked to miss a week.
Oh, Hereditary. You disturbing, unnerving film. Kevin and Sean discuss what they like about the movie, but fear not. They stay clear of all spoilers, as this is the type of movie that you need to see as clean and unspoiled as possible. There will be a deeper dive into Ari Aster's movie next week, after more of you have checked it out. One thing the guys DO agree on. The Toni Collette Oscar campaign starts this week, so get on board.
We didn't really plan this, but Hereditary also synched up beautifully with this week's #Blend game, where we debated the BEST Alfred Hitchcock movie. Kevin probably wins this week's discussion, because his pick of "Favorite" Hitchcock is a masterpiece, so he and Sean get lost discussing film technique for a long time.
