We still don’t know how Blake Lively will fare with her newest movie Savages come early July, but regardless of its appeal, Gucci will remain a fan of her work. The company announced today it will make Lively the face of its next female fragrance. Entitled Gucci Premiere, the scent will head to the market next month all over the world, which is fitting since the promotional film to launch the line will make its debut in Venice.
To help hype the brand and possibly to provide further incentive to woo Lively, Gucci also hired Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn to helm a short film starring the former Gossip Girl actress. Its contents are completely unknown and being held very closely under wraps, but journalists and a select group of fans will get their chance to view it at the Venice Film Festival on September 1st. Gucci doesn’t really do small peanuts. If they’re going to roll out something new, the company always goes big.

In a statement released by Gucci, creative director Frida Giannini said she picked Lively because she looks like a contemporary version of the classic Hollywood beauties from the Golden Age. One would imagine the actress’ boyfriend Ryan Reynolds agrees with that analysis completely.
