Brad Pitt Brushes Off Red Carpet Attack

Brad Pitt is an extremely affable and laid back guy; yet, he always seems like he’s on when he needs to be. A great interview and a great actor, he’s remarkably good at being famous, even when it comes to dealing with the downsides—like weirdos get all up in his personal space. He was forced to fend off one of them during a bizarre red carpet appearance last week, but not surprisingly, he’s not letting the incident get to him.

Brad Pitt was at the premiere of Maleficent to support his wife Angelina Jolie when a journalist jumped over the guard rail and ran straight for him, making contact with his face. Bodyguards pulled him off moments later, and he was quicly rushed to the police station and charged. No doubt the incident would have infuriated most, but for Pitt it was more of a sad disappointment for the fans, rather than something that ruined his day. You can take a look at the official statement he released to People Magazine this morning…

"I was at the end of the line signing autographs, when out the corner of my eye I saw someone stage-diving over the barrier at me. I took a step back; this guy had latched onto my lapels. I looked down and the nutter was trying to bury his face in my crotch, so I cracked him twice in the back of the head – not too hard – but enough to get his attention, because he did let go. I think he was then just grabbing for a hand hold because the guys were on him, and he reached up and caught my glasses. I don't mind an exhibitionist, but if this guy keeps it up he's going to spoil it for the fans who have waited up all night for an autograph or a selfie, because it will make people more wary to approach a crowd. And he should know, if he tries to look up a woman’s dress again, he's going to get stomped."

The “nutter” he’s referring to in the above paragraph is Ukranian journalist Vitalii Sediuk. He’s drawn angry reactions from a slew of different celebrities for his odd behavior. He’s done everything from crash the Oscars to try and kiss Will Smith. At first, Hollywood collectively tolerated his little act, but this incident, coupled with a recent fiasco in which he tried to look under America Ferrera’s dress officially pushed the community too far. Following his arrest in the Brad Pitt case, he was officially barred from future red carpet events.

As for Pitt, he’ll keep on keeping on because that’s what he always does.
