No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani has spent the past decade or so jumping back and forth between rock star life and domestic goddess life. By all accounts, she’s transitioned really well too, piling up plenty of hit songs and more good years with her longtime husband Gavin Rossdale and their growing film, which just so happens to be about to grow by one more.

Stefani took to her Instagram account earlier today to confirm the news and let her fans know she’s expecting a boy. Given the little guy will be her third consecutive male, it’s a bit of a surprise, but it makes sense in a weird way since she’s spent most of her adult life touring with dudes and now has spent her married life with dudes.

Stefani first rose to prominence in the mid-90s when No Doubt’s single “Just A Girl” was suddenly everywhere. The heartbreaking ballad “Don’t Speak” followed a short time later and spent 16 consecutive weeks at the top of the charts. That success permanently solidified Stefani’s place in the popular culture, and it led her to Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale. After years of dating, the two married in 2002 and have been together ever since, producing two lovely children named Kingston (7) and Zuma (5).

There’s no word yet on what Stefani and Rossdale might name their forthcoming son, but one would imagine it would be something at least a little outside the box. Judging by their prior efforts, it won’t be absolute gibberish, but it’ll be unique and have some kind of personal meaning to one or both of the parents.

Pop Blend’s sincerest congratulations go out to the happy couple during this exciting time. To celebrate, take a listen to the No Doubt classic “Hella Good”…
