One Track Sunday: The Lonely Island And Robyn Go Kindergarten

The Lonely Island, made up of longtime SNL crew members Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer, have been wildly successful over the years. Early digital shorts put together by the ragtag crew for the late night sketch comedy show later went viral. This made room for the three comedians, now called The Lonely Island, to put out a debut album, Incredibad, in 2009 and Turtleneck & Chain in 2011. Now, the boys are back with their newest album and video, “Go Kindergarten,” featuring pop singer Robyn.

“Go Kindergarten” is the brand new single off the group’s third studio album, The Wack Album. In the track, the video pokes fun at popular club dance tracks, this time around instructing fans to “"Whip-whip your dick out!" and “Go dumb, eat garbage.” Accompanying the silly and commanding lyrics are plenty of comedic moments, as well as plenty of purposely stupid dance moves that follow directives like “Get on the fuckin’ floor and punch your best friend.” Even if you can’t handle the joke-y lyrics, you should at least appreciate some of the fabulous costumes.

In addition to Robyn’s voice, which helps to pepper the song with some quality vocals, Sean ”P.Diddy” Combs and Paul Rudd also pop up in the video to display some of The Lonely Island’s weirdest directives, as the photo above shows. You should really watch the whole thing, though, if you wanna catch the guys with their dicks out or Combs bemusedly consuming a banana. This isn’t the first time a famous face has popped up in one of the group’s videos. The Lonely Island has been known for bringing other names into songs in the past, including the likes of T-Pain, Chris Parnell, Justin Timberlake, Susan Sarandon, Natalie Portman, Nicki Minaj, and many, many more. Names from Hugh Jackman to Adam Levine and Pharell Williams appear on The Wack Album.

The Wack Album was released earlier this month, on June 11. If you are interested in the song or the album, you can nab a copy over at iTunes or Amazon, among other outlets. Additionally, you can catch other One Track Sunday videos, here.
