Are Fuller House Fans Team Steve Or Team Matt? Candace Cameron Bure Put Them To The Test

Since time immemorial--OK, since the time Fuller House first hit the airwaves on Netflix--there has been a debate about whether Steve or Matt really are the better fit for D.J. Some fans are in Steve's camp, feeling that history and a longtime connection should be the win for the character. Others are in Matt's camp, feeling like fresh starts are always better than old flames. The show has already been renewed for Season 3, and actress Candace Cameron Bure recently put fans to the test with some fun social media posts fueling the flames of the debate. Take a look.

Candace Cameron Bure's first Instagram post, taken at the People's Choice Awards, really does highlight how she and actor Scott Weinger, who played her high school boyfriend in Full House, still take a smart picture more than 20 years later. The post asks, "Who's all about this?" This will become important to this news story later.

Candace Cameron Bure didn't want to disappoint any Fuller House fans, so she took a second photo with actor John Brotherton, who plays D.J.'s vet partner Matt.

What's most fascinating about these two images is not that Bure looks damn good in that dress. It's not that she photographs equally well with each of her onscreen love interests. It's that she asked fans to weigh in about where Fuller House is going, and they obliged. While more than 87,000 people had liked the post with John Brotherton at the time of this writing, the post with Steve earned more than 135,000 likes. The fans seem to have spoken, and they've spoken for Steve.

At the end of Fuller House Season 2, D.J. was dating Matt. However, she revealed that earlier on during the season, she had planned to ask Steve to start dating. Unfortunately, that plan was foiled when both Steve and Matt ended up bringing dates to a Tanner family event. Matt's new girlfriend didn't work out but Steve's did, and the rest is history... for now.

Fuller House has planned a bigger episode count for Season 3, although we're not sure when Netflix is bringing the show back, yet. After all, Fuller House hit the schedule twice in 2016. We'll let you know as soon as we have an official return date. For now, take a look at our 2017 Netflix premiere schedule.
