Why Legends Of Tomorrow Fans Should Get Ready For A Big Cast Shake-Up
Warning: spoilers ahead for Legends of Tomorrow. Don't read any further if you are not up to date on the DC series!
DC's Legends of Tomorrow has always stood out as the oddball of The CW's Arrow-verse series. As it's the most ensemble-oriented DC series on television, the stakes for who can and cannot die at any given moment always seem heightened. With the show's Season 2 finale set to air this evening, that concept will apparently be on full display. Executive producer Marc Guggenheim explained:
We hope that you didn't get too attached to The Legends on this season of Legends of Tomorrow, because we are going to see quite a few major deaths in the finale. According to Marc Guggenheim's recent comments to TVLine, we're about to see some major shakeups on the core team roster, and that will fundamentally change the nature of the series going forward. With no indication as to which specific heroes will bite the bullet on tonight's episode, it's time to start placing bets in the death pool.
This raises some genuine concerns about who is going to die tonight. We technically already saw the death of Vixen last week at the hands of Leonard Snart, but all evidence points to the team using the Spear of Destiny to bring her back. Amaya Jiwe has to live to see the creation of the modern day Vixen, so she seems safe enough. From there, however, things get quite a bit dicier for everyone on the roster. We could see Nate Heywood die to bring back Vixen, or Rip Hunter sacrifice himself -- comfortable with the knowledge that his team will be alright without him. Even Sara Lance (who is no stranger to death) isn't entirely off of the table at this point.
On that note, we need to starting considering who will wind up replacing the deceased team members. Legends of Tomorrow showrunner Phil Klemmer recently told Rotten Tomatoes that Season 3 would introduce a character who did not originate in the comics, to become a new member of the team. This is a pretty deep pool to pull from, but our hope remains insanely high that Legends of Tomorrow may get a small screen version of Harley Quinn on the team next year. After all, she already made a cameo on Arrow during the second season of Oliver Queen's solo series.
We will just have to wait and see who bites the bullet when Legends of Tomorrow's season finale airs tonight at its special time of 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
